A Little French Town

Hey everyone!

How are we all? 🙂

On Sunday, my family and I travelled around Banks Peninsula over to Akaroa, a French province, and one of the earliest settled places in New Zealand!

I personally, unlike most people from Canterbury (the region I live in) hadn’t been there before so I was incredibly excited about this!! 🙂

It was about an hour to an hour and a half to get there – over some very high hills I might add! Didn’t help my vertigo! But it was well worth it!

First of all we travelled up to the hills surrounding the Akaroa Harbour, and had a look down from there. Up there we were facing directly towards Antarctica which was pretty cool! (Although of course we couldn’t see it!) 😉

Then, after a walk around – again more vertigo!! – we went down into the Akaroa town and had lunch. Everything was very French  and it almost felt like being in another country! Until you saw the iconic New Zealand view of the beach! 😉

It was the right mix of busy enough that people like it there but also quiet enough so that it was relaxing! 🙂

If you are ever in NZ and you need somewhere to visit you will not be disappointed by Akaroa! And I believe you can jet-ski and swim there in the summer! 🙂 But best of all there were so many photo opportunities!! 😉

Until the next time

Lui xx

  2. I haven’t been to Akaroa for years! I usually get to Little River and then get daunted by the upcoming hills! It might have been years but I remember them well haha. I must get over there next time I’m home
