Hello sweet peas!!! 🙂
Todays post is based around the sourcing of ethical products during Christmas (and I don’t mean any judgment at all!! 🙂 ). As I know of course it is hard to always buy ethically sourced items, whether that be because of attainability, cost, or lack of availability. However, whenever possible I always try to purchase items that are ethically sourced as I always feel a lot better about it!
I think for Christmas in particular I find sourcing ethical products is particularly important to me. To me, Christmas is about love and giving, so I find it so important that the decorations I put up reflect that.
On Friday my mum and I went into Christchurch’s re-start mall where Trade Aid is based. Trade Aid is basically a shop that sources all its products from ethical conditions, all around the world. It is designed to combat the slave-labour system exhibited in the same countries, ad provide a better option. To be honest, the products in there look a lot better than the cheap ones, and are a lot more unique and well made. They also aren’t expensive, and are really well priced!
My favourite ones are always the Peruvian items, and this time we left with (another) Peruvian nativity set, that looked so beautiful, we fell in love with it straight away!! 🙂 I also got a Pilipino Reindeer that I named Gustave 😉 No animals (whether they be my cat, or a toy reindeer) enter my house without being named! 😉 We also purchased a beautiful star from India for the top of our tree, and two angels for the mantel piece.
I would really encourage you to source your Christmas decorations from somewhere like Trade Aid. You feel a lot more sound
about your purchase, and you know you’ve made a difference, no matter how small. You can check out their website by clicking here, or any of the other links in this post 🙂
I hope you are all having a great day, and I would love to know your suggestions for ethically sourced products! 🙂
